As one of the participating artists of the Islamic Arts Festival, in the State of Sharjah, in the United Arab Emirates, Andrey Zignnatto takes his brick-based works to the Middle East for the show Overpass. The theme that unites the diverse exhibitions from all around the world in the festival that happens at the Sharjah Art Museum is "Bunyan", an arabic expression that means "structures, buildings, foundations, institutions".
On this "building" context, one of the elements of the Arab culture that influenced the Brazilian one, in spite of the geographical distance is the "cobogó", used by Andrey to create a Mantle that, simultaneously, separates spaces and allows the observer to see the other side through the characteristics holes in this king of ceramic brick. Therefore, in overpass, we encounter a proposal to equalize some opposing forces, such as: past and present, hardness and softness, heaviness and lightness, stiffness and organicity.
